The basic purpose of making this portal was to provide people with a source or place to compare prices and products and from different vendors. In June 2005 E.W Scripts Company purchased shopzilla for $525 million and started its services by following aggressive marketing campaigns. The idea flourished in 2006 when only in the month of May shopzilla recorded 20 million unique visitors in that month.

Shopzilla is serving its customers through its websites in U.S., UK, French and German markets. Headquarter is in Los Angles, California. The main income stream for shopzilla is by generating leads for merchants for which shopzilla is offering pay per click marketing model to its publishers. It depends on merchants, how much they offer for their product to be in no.1 place on shopzilla. Normally PPC for each product depends on the competition for that product by merchants. Shopzilla also runs its website on the basis of reviews by customers and most importantly on the basis of “Shop Rank” given by customers to each product. Surely they have given good idea and I must say facility for customers to make better selections when going to purchase anything even from any vendor. On this basis I can easily say, when it comes to comparison shopping, best name that comes into mind is shopzilla.
